Manlius NY, February, 2007 – Each of us has a favorite piece of furniture, past or present, that evokes good feelings and warm memories of home, family and friends-- Grandpa’s favorite chair, Mother’s Linen Cabinet, Dad’s tall dresser, the Hope Chest you received for your Sweet 16, the table you dented or maybe even the chair the new puppy chewed. For 30 years, Mike Danial has been discovering that the Stickley Furniture Company and Stickley collectors are bound with an invisible cord that keeps these feelings alive. As Stickley’s Corporate Historian, Mike’s Stickley Roadshow highlights stories from dozens of families who have been enjoying the Stickley experience for generations. “I created this Roadshow presentation in 1985 after making furniture in the Stickley factory for 10 years,” says Danial. “As I continued discovering the link, I simply had to share it around the country at a local level with our collectors. Today, my groups combine veteran collectors and novices alike.”
![]() A Roadshow group learns furniture care secrets. Besides family and home stories, The Stickley Roadshow delves into the surprising reasons why some pieces of furniture are destined to become family heirlooms and why others end up in a garage sale. “As we move more and more into the ‘throw away’ mentality, the knowledge of preservation and care is being lost.” The Roadshow recovers some of that lost information. And it is surprising how easy caring for fine things becomes once the shroud of furniture care misinformation is cleared. The Stickley Roadshow is being hosted by Geneva On The Lake. The event is free but seating is limited. Call for a reservation.
